Democrat Fern O’Brien announced her candidacy for Attorney General today. Click below for the full press release…

Fern OBrien announced her candidacy for Colorados Attorney General today in one of a series of events across the state of Colorado.

My Main Street Values come from my role as a mother of 2 children and wife of 24 years to my husband Morgan and from my professional background as a successful businesswoman and attorney, said OBrien.  My experience as a businesswoman and attorney will guide me in my role as protector of Colorados land, water and people.

OBrien, a Democrat, has practiced business and real estate law in Colorado for the last ten years, negotiating complex financial transactions that have helped people start their own companies and helping employees become owners of the businesses where they work.

The simple fact is that all Coloradans want to live a life with dignity, OBrien continued.  Yet for many Coloradans the economic security of a good job, affordable and accessible healthcare and a secure retirement is under constant attack.  As your Attorney General I will be committed to not only defending Coloradans from violent criminals but also from profiteers and those out to make a quick buck who threaten the economic security of far too many Coloradans.

The announcement tour kicked off on Wednesday March 2nd in Pueblo, then headed north with stops in Colorado Springs, Denver, Fort Collins, and Boulder, OBriens home county.  On Thursday March 3rd OBrien continued her tour on the Western Slope, with events in Grand Junction, Durango, and Cortez.

I look forward to traveling Colorado and listening to the concerns and ideas of all Coloradans.  I am honored to enter this race for Attorney General and to take the Main Street values of perseverance, integrity and fairness to this important office, concluded OBrien.

  1. John Suthers will win with over 70% of the vote.
Fern will spend a lot of her own money on political consultants. Fern will not be able to raise even $100,000.

  2. Lynn Hufnagel, Frances Koncilija, Beth McCann and a number of other prominent women lawyers are going to openly support and help John Suthers. Suthers is that rare individual who is a true public servant and puts the law ahead of politics

  3. It’s great to hear an AG candidate talk about values.  Being a republican that sometime swings to the left, I think it’s great that finally a Democrat is talking about values.  I also love the fact she is traveling around the state.  I thought this was suprising.  I figured she’d stay in Denver and Boulder.  I think this race just got a lot more interesting.

  4. Suthers?  You mean the guy who loved his job so much he almost left it for Washington DC?  Yeah, real dedication to duty in that guy.

I like Fern’s values message, too.  I think it’s the only kind of message that a Democrat can win on in a state-wide race.

    GO FERN!

  5. Wasn’t “defender of Colorado’s land, water, and people” Ken Salazar’s tag line?  Do we only have one political consultant in this state?
